What to do in Scotland: Summertime
November 15th, 2007 Posted in Edinburgh, ScotlandEvery year between the months of July and September, Edinburgh is the host to largest arts and music festival in the world. The event is actually a collection of festivals all held during the same time period, although it is generally referred to as the Edinburgh Festival. A few of the smaller festivals held there are the Edinburgh Film Festival, the Edinburgh Book Festival, and the Festival Fringe.
Most of the performers at the festivals are amateurs or students, but there are often some big names from the United Kingdom comedic and theatrical circuits that attend and perform at the festivals.
But if your mood isn’t right for a festival then there are other things to do while in Scotland. Scotland has a low population density and a diverse wildlife, which makes it a hotspot for lovers of the outdoors. Scotland has a huge selection of trails for anyone seeking to walk alongside nature.
In September 2007, the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships came to the tiny town of Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. This event was a fantastic time to watch Olympian athletes, and to try cycling as well.
And then there is golfing. Scotland is the golfer’s paradise. Scotland has a plethora of clean rivers and famous courses. Miles upon miles of green lands await the golfer in Scotland.
These are just a few of the places you can visit and the activities you can find available while you’re exploring the rolling green hills of Scotland.
